Mardi Gras Bash set for Feb. 23

Organizers are putting the final touches on the 7th annual Mardi Gras Bash, which will be held this Saturday, Feb. 23, at Simon George Hall, 401 S. Karnes in Cameron.
The event will start at 6 p.m., and includes an authentic Cajun food dinner, auctions including a gun raffle and activities for the kids. Adult tickets are $10 and children under 18 are $5.
It’s your last chance to get tickets which can be purchased at the Milam County Extension Office in Cameron, the Rockdale Reporter and Rodenbeck Farm & Ranch in Thorndale.
Items for the auction can be dropped off at Ideal Poultry in Cameron.
Here is a list of some of the items in the auction: Standards Home Health donating 10 ribeye steaks from 44 Farms valued at $150; Standards Home Health is donating a meal for 10 from Circle “S” BBQ which includes brisket, ribs, chicken and all the trimmings valued at $200; Jaime Galvan of Hecho en Texas is donating a backyard BBQ for 20 with ribs and sausage and all the trimmings; Sean Lee autographed jersey with certificate of authenticity donated by Terry Keratsopoulos; Lamar Miller autographed print from NFL game use Collection number 1169/1325 donated by Terry Keratsopoulos; Bling Box gift certificates and other items donated by the Bling Box in Cameron; two jars of ‘Husher Cookies’ and three plates with a 1/2 dozen homemade cinnamon rolls donated by Katie Husher; handmade earrings donated by Uniquely Mesquite of Texas; Box of Redemption cigars donated by Stephanie Varga at Black Label Trading Company; and lots of other items that can be viewed on the Facebook page at facebook.com/ cholcombememorial.
Over the past seven years a total of $77,500 in scholarships has been given to college students from Milam County as as result of the Mardi Gras event.
