Donald J. Trump was elected America’s 45th President on Tuesday night, defeating Hillary Clinton.
Milam County voters followed suit with Texas as a whole, overwhelmingly voting for Trump and Vice Presidential candidate Mike Pence.
Unofficial results from the Milam County Clerk’s Office saw 6,340 votes for Trump overall with 4,371 of those coming in early voting. Clinton and running mate Tim Kaine got 2,042 votes overall, 1,309 in early voting. Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson garnered 176 votes and Green Party candidate Jill Stein took 49 voted in the county.
Across Texas Trump received 52 percent of the vote to Clinton’s 43 percent.
In other races Bill Flores was easily reelected as U.S. Representative from District 17 receiving over 60 percent of the vote. Flores got 6,327 votes in Milam County. Democratic challenger William Matta received 1,919 votes and Libertarian Clark Patterson received 253 votes.
