Russell Michael Mendoza

Russell Michael Mendoza, 49, Harker Heights, died at 12:46 a.m., Monday, Feb. 13, 2017. He passed away peacefully in Merida Yucatan, Mexico.

Russell was born Jan. 23, 1968, in Temple, Texas, and was a lifelong area resident.

Visitation will be held at Crawford Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen, Feb. 24, from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. followed by a Rosary on Thursday from 7:30-8:30 p.m. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 25, at the St. Monica Catholic Church Cameron with Rev. Dimitrij Colankin officiating. Burial will be in the Oakhill Cemetery.

Lucy Arguello Jaramillo

Lucy Arguello Jaramillo, 58, of Cameron died Monday, Feb. 20, 2017, at her home.  Visitation and wake services will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home. Interment services will be in Lubbock at a later date.

Mrs. Jaramillo was born in San Antonio to Thomas Arguello and Lucia Valdez Arguello. She married Ray Jaramillo. 

She was preceded in death by a sister, Oralia Chavez and a brother, Mike Rivera.  She is survived by: husband, Ray Jaramillo of Cameron; sons, David Mora Jr. of Lubbock, Christopher  Mora of Baltimore, Md., and Eddie Mora of College Station; daughters, Misty Castillo of Lubbock and Mellissa Cazeres of Friendswood; brothers, Jesse Trevino of Woodrow, Gilbert Trevino of Woodrow, and Thomas Arguello Jr. of Abernathy; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and the father of her children, David Mora Sr. of Lubbock.

Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home of Cameron is in charge of arrangements.

Rita Josephine Mikulec

Rita Josephine Mikulec, 92, of Buckholts, died Saturday, Feb. 18, in a Temple hospice facility. 

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 25 at Saints Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Marak, with Rev. George Thirumangalam officiating. Burial will follow in the Sts. Cyril & Methodius Cemetery in Marak. 

Visitation will be Friday from 5-8 p.m. with a rosary being recited at 7 p.m..

Mrs. Mikulec, a homemaker, was born Feb. 6, 1925, in the Ad Hall Community of Milam County to Rudolph and Carolin (Dressler) Hertenberger. She married Theodore Mikulec on July 1, 1944, and he preceded her in death.

She had also worked for Cameron ISD and for VR Fashions. She was a member of Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church, the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary of Cameron Post 2010, KJZT, founder the Stitch Witches Club in Marak.

She was also preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.

Enrique Gutierrez

Enrique Gutierrez, 56, of Cameron died Saturday, Feb. 18, as the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. 

Visitation will be Tuesday, Feb. 21, from 6-8 p.m. at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron. Additional services will be at a later date.

Mr. Gutierrez, a self-employed construction worker, was born May 22, 1960, in Guadalajara, Mexico, to Rafael Gutierrez and Juana Salcedo. He had also worked for Denio’s Furniture, Flooring and Fireplaces. 

He is survived by: daughter, Melissa Luna of Killeen; and three grandchildren, Monica, Liliana and Dominic.

Louise Moeller

Services for Mrs. Louise Moeller, 85, of Cameron, will be held Monday, Feb. 20, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Abiding Savior Lutheran Church in Cameron, with Rev. Fred Hill officiating. Burial will be in the Burlington Cemetery. Mrs. Moeller passed away Friday, Feb. 17, in a Cameron nursing facility.

Mrs. Moeller was born July 29, 1931, in Giddings, to Paul and Louise Zoch Medack. She graduated Giddings High School in 1949. She was a retired school bus driver in Houston and a former reserve deputy constable of Harris County. She was married to Fred Moeller, who preceded her in death in 2013.

She is survived by one son, Larry Moeller of Houston; two daughters, Kathy Smith of Cameron and Lindy Peters of Houston; and two sisters, Vi Sherk of Houston and Helen Wenthe of Georgetown. Also surviving are ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She is also preceded in death by two sons, Ronnie and Kenny Moeller.

Maria Louisa Martinez

Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, Feb. 22, at 11 a.m. at St. Monica’s Catholic Church in Cameron for Maria Louisa Martinez, 93, with Father Dimitrij Colankin presiding.  Rosary will be recited Tuesday, Feb. 21, at 7 p.m. at Green-Patterson Funeral Home.

Ms. Martinez passed away Feb. 16 in a Gatesville nursing facility.

Ms. Martinez was born June 2, 1923, in Granger, to Porforio and Sylvestra Granado Martinez. She was retired from the health care industry. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Gatesville.

She is survived by many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were three brothers and four sisters and several nieces and nephews.

Billy Ray Barrett Sr.

Billy Ray Barrett Sr., 82, of Cameron, died Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2017, at his home.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, at the Oak Hill Cemetery Pavilion with Rev. Glynn Cummings officiating.  Burial will be at the Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, Feb. 18, from 6-8 p.m.  at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home.

Mr. Barrett was born Feb. 21, 1934, in Cameron to James Calvin and Bertha (Houston) Barrett. He married Peggy Ann Spivey on Jan. 8, 1955. Mr. Barrett had been self-employed in the construction industry, had owned and operated Shady Oaks in Cameron and had worked for the City of Abilene. 

His daughter, Brenda Barrett, preceded him in death as did three siblings.

Clement Oscar Synatzske

Funeral services for Mr. Clement Oscar Synatzske, 91, of Buckholts, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017, at the Hope Lutheran Church in Buckholts.  Burial will follow in the Hope Lutheran Memorial Park there in Buckholts. Mr. Synatzske died Friday, Feb. 10, in Corpus Christi.

Mr. Synatzske was born March 18, 1925, in Williamson County to Herbert and Martha Weise Synatzske. He married Billye Sell on August 7, 1948, at Hope Lutheran Church in Buckholts. They celebrated 66 years of marriage before her death in 2014.  He was a retired farmer of the Val Verde Community. He served in the Army Air Corp in 1945. He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church of Buckholts and also served on the Board of Hope Lutheran Memorial Park Association in Buckholts.

Robert Logan Fagner

Robert Logan Fagner, 65, of Holland and formerly of Cameron, died Wednesday, as a result of injuries sustained in a bicycle and automobile accident. Memorial services will be at a later date.

Mr. Fagner, a retired school teacher, was born May 18, 1951, in Chicopee Falls, Mass., to J. Logan and Peggy Ann (Shepard) Fagner. He married Paula Jeanette Petrie. Mr. Fagner taught school in Shepherd, Holland, Jarrell and Cameron. 

He is survived by: his wife, Paula Fagner of Holland; sons, J. Laurence Fagner of Lorena and Joshua Logan Fagner of Holland; daughters, Jessica Lynne Smith of Holland and Kristen Zajicek of Holland; parents, J. and Peggy Fagner of Valley Mills; brothers, Gary Wayne Fagner of Ecuador and Scott Allen Fagner of Waco; and grandchildren, Caleigh, Cayton and Chyler Smith, Gavin and Owen Fagner and Molly Zajicek.

W.H. "Tex" Wreyford

Mr. W. H. “Tex” Wreyford, 82, of Belton, passed away Friday, Feb. 10, 2017, in a Cameron Hospital. 

Memorial services will be scheduled at a later date with burial to be in the North Belton Cemetery in Belton.

Mr. Wreyford was born May 21, 1934, in Emerson, Ark., to William Joseph and Evelena Love Wreyford. He attended school in Springhill, La. He married Marcella Malone in Greenville, Miss., on July 21, 1956.  She survives. He was a member of the Christian Tabernacle Church in Belton. He worked in the oil field and construction industry.

Also surviving is one step-daughter, Brenda Tong Simek and husband Jon of Temple; one step-grandson, Jason Green of Zabcikville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Wreyford was preceded in death by brothers Woodrow, Clarence, Earl and Otha Lee; and sisters, Evelyn Gulley, Myrtle Powers and Carrie Colvin.
