Martha Fay Corona

Martha Fay Corona, 63, of Cameron died Friday, April 29, at her home. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Monday, May 2, at Hernandez Cemetery. 

Mrs. Corona, a homemaker, was born Jan. 27, 1953 in Cameron to Hubert Edmondson, Jr. and Alice Aguilar Edmondson. She married Jesse Corona and he preceded her in death in 2014. 

She is survived by sons Michael Benton of Cameron and Paul Corona of Marble Falls; daughters Rhonda Flores of Rachelle Corona of Cameron; brother Hubert Edmondson III of Cameron; nine grandchildren

Colleen Andrews

Colleen Andrews, 92, of Cameron died Thursday, April 28, 2016, in a Temple hospital with family at her bedside.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, April 30, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron with Rev. George Hancock officiating. Burial will be May 7 at 11 a.m. in the Childress Cemetery in Childress.
Mrs. Andrews, a retired school secretary, was born Dec. 1, 1923, in Corsicana to Robert Mason and Annie (Judkins) Albritton.
She married Ardeen (Beanie) Andrews, her high school sweetheart, on March 9, 1945, and to that marriage was born one son, R. Gary “Andy” Andrews, three grandchildren, Joni, Darryn and Jarrett and five great grandchildren.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Care & Share Angels Sunday School class in Cameron and the Bridge Club.
Mrs. Andrews was preceded in death by her husband, Beanie, granddaughter, Joni and grandson 2nd Lt. Darryn Andrews and by a sister Beth Bohannon.

Jimmy Lee Gavit

Graveside services with full military honors will be held Wednesday, April 27, at 1  p.m. at Moffat Cemetery near Temple for Jimmy Lee Gavit, 69, of Rockdale, formerly of Pecos.
Mr. Gavit passed away Sunday, April 24, 2016 in a Cameron nursing facility.
Mr. Gavit was born March 2, 1947, in Llano to Harvey W. and Lorene (Merkel) Gavit. He was a retired carpenter in the construction business. He was Baptist.
Survivors include one son, Brian Lee Gavit  of Lampasas; two brothers, Harvey D. Gavit of Round Rock and Raymond Gavit of Hutto; three sisters, Helen Gavit and Deborah Flow, both of Rockdale, and Barbara Payne of Houston. Also surviving are two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Patsy Gerbert and Linda Cates.

Walter Anton Zajicek

Walter Anton Zajicek, 75, of Bryan, died Saturday April 23, at his home.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. pm Wednesday, April 27, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron with Rev. Gary Kleypas officiating.
Burial will follow in the Hope Lutheran Memorial Park in Buckholts.
Visitation will be Wednesday from noon until service time.
Mr. Zajicek, a retired electrician, was born May 7, 1940 in Cameron to Joe and Lillie (Roesler) Zajicek.
He married Bennie Marie Nors in 1961 and she preceded him in death in 2012.
He is survived by son Gene Zajicek and wife Jana of Bryan; brothers Joe Dean Zajicek and wife Bernice of Waco and Jackie Zajicek and wife Suzanne of Copperas Cove; and grandchildren Clint, Garrett and Danica.

Albert William (A.W.) Zajicek, Jr.

Albert William (A.W.) Zajicek, Jr., 85 of Temple and formerly of Buckholts, died Saturday, April 23, 2016 at his home.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron with Rev. Gary Kleypas officiating.
Burial will be in the Corinth Cemetery in Buckholts. Visitation will be held Monday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Zajicek was born Sept. 13, 1930 in Buckholts to Albert William and Lydia Frances (Valka) Zajicek.
He attended Baylor University and served in the U.S. Air Force. He married Lamerle Walker on Aug. 27, 1950.
Mr. Zajicek had worked as the director of finance for Scott & White Memorial Hospital for over 28 years. He had served on numerous area boards and committees including 42 years on the Buckholts School Board.
He was a faithful member of Hope Lutheran Church in Buckholts.
He was preceded in death by his son, David Zajicek and by an infant sister, Verna Mae.

Jo Ann McLane McClaren

Jo Ann McLane McClaren
Nov.6, 1931 – April 23, 2016

Jo Ann McLane McClaren, of Grand Prairie, Texas, graduated to be with the Lord she loved on April 23, 2016, at the age of 84, after a courageous three-year battle with cancer. While Jo Ann’s time upon this earth has ended, she is only beginning her time in eternity in the presence of her Lord.
Jo Ann left a tremendous legacy. She blazed a trail of faith, hope and love. Her abounding energy, joy and strength were evident in all areas of her life. She was filled with compassion and her outward beauty was accompanied by her tenacious spirit and heart of gold.
She was born in 1931, in Cameron, Texas, to Robert Drayton McLane and Gladys Blaylock McLane, graduating from C.H. Yoe High School in 1948.
As a young girl, she enjoyed accompanying her father at his wholesale grocery business, McLane Company, and she later worked there upon her return from Austin College.

Lillie Zajicek

Lillie Zajicek, 98, of Copperas Cove and formerly of Buckholts, died Thursday, April 21, in a Copperas Cove assisted living facility.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron with Rev. Gary Kleypas officiating.
Burial will follow in the Hope Lutheran Memorial Park in Buckholts. 
Visitation will be Saturday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Zajieck was born Feb. 8, 1918 in Ben Arnold to Emil and Olga Roesler. She married Joe Zajicek on Sept. 19, 1936 and he preceded her in death in 2007. 
She and her husband owned and operated several businesses in the Buckholts area for many years. She had also worked for Montgomery Wards for many years.
She was also preceded in death by her brother Walter Roesler and daughter-in-law, Bennie Marie.

Alejo Martinez

Alejo Martinez, 54, of Cameron, died Saturday, April 16, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Milam County.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Iglesia Cristiana, Rey de Reyes in Rockdale with Dr. Alfonso Velazquez officiating.
Burial will follow in the St. Monica’s Catholic Cemetery in Cameron. A prayer service will be held Wednesday, beginning at 7 p.m. at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron.
Mr. Martinez was born July 18, 1961 in Mexico to Geronimo and Carmen (Hernandez) Martinez. He had worked as a truck driver. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Evelyn Martinez.
He is survived by daughter Rocio Martinez of Anderson; mother Carmen Hernandez Martinez of Mexico; brothers Miguel Martinez, Nico Martinez and Fabian Martinez, all of Mexico; sisters Carmen Martinez, Lena Martinez, Alejandra Martinez, Rosa Martinez, Rosario Martinez, and Ruby Martinez, all of Mexico; and one grandson.

Maria de La Luz Garza

Maria de La Luz Garza, 58, of Cameron died Monday, April 18, in a Temple hospital.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home with Rev. Mateo Lopez, Jr. officiating. Burial followed in the Hernandez Cemetery. A prayer service will be held 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Garza, a homemaker, was born Oct. 18, 1957, in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico to Eusebio and Andrea (Munoz) Velez.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Crystal Garza in 2003.
She is survived by sons Jesse Garza, Aaron Garza and Edward Garza, all of Cameron; daughters Zulema Medelion of Temple, Rocio Van Wettering, Andrea Lara, Manzana Rangel, all of Cameron, and Elizabeth Garza of Temple; brothers Eusebio Velez of Laredo, Julio Velez of Laredo, David Velez of Laredo and Ramiro Velez of Laredo; sisters Enedina Bolivar of Cameron and Alicia Miller of El Paso; and 14 grandchildren.

Buddy R. Dulin

Former Cameron ISD superintendent Buddy R. Dulin, 84, of Abilene, died Tuesday, April 12, in Abilene.
Funeral services are scheduled at 10 a.m. Friday, April 15, at the Oldham Lane Church of Christ in Abilene. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Dulin was a native of Colorado City, born Jan.15, 1932. He married Elizabeth Henning on Dec. 29, 1970 in El Paso.
In addition to his 24 years as superintendent with the Cameron ISD, he was superintendent for Albany ISD for 21 years. He was a great influence to many school children over the years. He was a member of the Oldham Lane Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, several brothers and sisters and other family members.
Buddy is survived by his wife Elizabeth Dulin of Abilene, one sister; Doris Dulin of Colorado City and several nieces & nephews.
The Hamil Family Funeral Home of Abilene was in charge of the arrangements.
