Rose Marie Johnson Lindsay

Rose Marie Johnson Lindsay, 84, died on Wednesday, March 23, at Fortress Health & Rehab in College Station.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, March 31, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, College Station.
She was born Sept. 28, 1931 to Rube and Marie Johnson in Cameron. She graduated in 1952 as a registered nurse.
After raising six children she began a new career as a watercolor artist and teacher. Some of her works have been in various museum settings as well as enjoyed in many homes and offices in the Bryan College Station area.
She was an active long time parishioner at St Mary’s Catholic Church in College Station.

Emil F. Horelica

Emil F. Horelica, 82, of Cameron died Monday, March 28, at his home.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 2, at St. Monica’s Catholic Church with Rev. Dimitrij Colankin officiating. Entombment will be in the St. Monica’s Mausoleum.
A rosary will be recited Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Monica’s Catholic Church.
Visitation will be Friday from 5 until 7 p.m. at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron.
Mr. Horelica was born July 19, 1933 in Milam County to Emil J. and Philemena (Bodinsky) Horelica. He retired from the State of Texas.
He married Doris Hungerford Eickenhorst. He was a member of St. Monica’s Catholic Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus and as a younger man served on the Cameron Volunteer Fire Department.

Margie Walker Dibble

Funeral service for Margie Walker Dibble, 89, of Gause was held March 25 at Gause United Methodist Church. Interment followed at Gause Cemetery.
Margie is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law Sammy Dibble of Groesbeck, Michael K and Marie Dibble of Grand Prairie, Mark and Sandy Dibble of Cleveland, Her daughter Kay Dibble of Gause. four grandsons, eight great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and numerous other relatives.
Margie is preceded in death by her husband Samuel E Dibble Sr., her parents Herbert Walker Sr. and Mattie Crockett Walker, and her brothers Carl Walker and Buddy Walker.

Frances Homerstad

Frances Homerstad, 95, passed away on Sunday in Clifton.

She was the wife of the late John M. Homerstad, who was pastor at Abiding Savior Lutheran Church in Cameron from 1972 to 1978.

A funeral will be held at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Norse, Texas, on Thursday, March 24, at 2 p.m. Visitation will precede the service, starting at 1 p.m. Interment will follow in the cemetery at Our Savior’s.

Luther Charles Flinn, Jr.

Luther Charles Flinn, Jr. 80, of Cameron died Friday, March 18, 2016 in a Temple nursing facility.  Services will be at a later date.
Mr. Flinn, retired principal at C.H. Yoe High School, was born Oct. 30, 1935 in Taft, Texas to Luther Charles and Mildred (Grimes) Flinn.  He received his Bachelor’s of Education from the University of Texas and his Master’s of Education from the University of Houston.
He married Katherine Casey in 1960.
He is survived by his wife Katherine Casey Flinn of Cameron; daughters Kelly Flinn Cauley and husband Chris of Baytown, Casey Flinn Richardson and husband Andy of College Station; sister Alice Ann Harris of Houston; and five grandchildren.

Nehemias Rangel

Nehemias Rangel, 58, of Westphalia, died March 10 in a Temple hospital.
Funeral services were held March 14 at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home with Pastor Moises Vaca officiating. Burial followed in the Hernandez Cemetery.
Mr. Rangel was born May 29, 1957, in Cameron to Simon V. and Alicia (Galarza) Rangel. He married Margaret Alvarado.
He had worked for Milam County Pct. 2 as a heavy equipment operator.
He was preceded in death by his father and by a brother, Fred Rangel.

Burrell B. McLerran

Burrell B. McLerran, 91, of Houston died Feb. 17, 2016, in West Houston Hospital after a short illness.
Memorial services to be held at 11 a.m. on March 19, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home, Cameron.
The youngest of six children born to Frank and Mattie McLerran, he was born July 7, 1924, ont he family farm a few miles from town.
Burrell grew up during the depression and became a Christian as a young teenager.
He was in high school when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor and like so many members of the Greatest Generation, after he graduated, he signed up for the war. He served in the Merchant Marines in both the Atlantic and Pacific oceans until the end of the conflict.
After the war was over, he returned home to Cameron where he was introduced to Nelda Coward by his cousin. He would later marry Nelda and they would be together for 67 years.

Altie “Bonnie” Burnett

Altie “Bonnie” Burnett, 79, of Cameron died Friday, March 11, at her home.
Funeral services were held March 15 at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron with Donald Valenta officiating.
Burial followed in the Marlow Cemetery.
Mrs. Burnett, a retired teacher’s aide, was born Feb. 27, 1937 in Cameron to Grady Patrick and Virgie Amelia (McFarland) Gill.
She married Henry Lee Burnett. She taught students with dyslexia for many years. She was preceded in death by a brother, Grady Thomas Gill.
She is survived by her husband Henry Burnett of Cameron; son Mark Burnett of Cameron; brother David Gill and wife Carol of Milano; sister Pat Gilbert of Cameron; two grandchildren, Heather Burnett and Shane Burnett; and one great grandchild Emily Yvonne Burnett.
Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home of Cameron was in charge of arrangements.

Agnes Marie Bruedigan

Agnes Marie Bruedigan, 79, of Cameron died Saturday, March 12, in a Temple hospital.
Funeral services will 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 16, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron with David Trayler officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Bruedigan was born June 25, 1936, in Cameron to Jimmy and Gussie (Baker) Mathis. She married Leslie Bruedigan and he preceded her in death in 1999.
Mrs. Bruedigan had worked for many years as a seamstress and later a waitress. She had been a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Cameron Volunteer Fire Department for many years.
Two brothers, Robert Lee Mathis and Alfred Mathis and one sister, Evelyn Mueck preceded her in death.

Rosena Cecelia Richter Abel

Rosena Cecelia Richter Abel, born Nov. 22, 1919, died peacefully at her home in Cameron on March 9.
Devoted wife, mother and child, Mrs. Abel is predeceased by her husband, Flores Adolph Abel 1917-1970 of Buckholts, son of Louis Abel and Hatti Pick Abel.
She was also preceded in death by her father Raymond Richter 1873-1931, mother Annie Kuchnik Richter 1877-1942, siblings Pauline Rosena Winkler 1902-1991, Adolph Richter 1904-1999, Annie Magdaline Walzel 1905-1995, Marie Boedeker 1908-1983, Raymond Richter, Jr. 1912-2000, Johnny Alfred Richter 1914-2009, and Henry Robert Richter 1917-1986.
Mrs. Abel is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Virginia Abel Wedeikes and spouse Kenneth, Mrs. Linda Abel Gilmore, Mrs. Kathleen Abel Stringer and spouse Brian; one grandson, Richard Kenneth Wedeikes; three step grandchildren and seven step great grandchildren.
