Louis Marvin Hengst

Louis Marvin Hengst, 88, of North Richland Hills, joined his Lord and Savior on Saturday evening, Nov. 4, 2017, at Medical City North Hills Hospital.

He was born in Thorndale on Nov. 23, 1928, to Oscar and Alma (Niemtschk) Hengst.

Louis was preceded in death by his parents; siblings; Roy and Clarence Hengst, and Alice Melcher; and daughter-in-law, Linda ( Dew) Hengst.

Louis is survived by wife, Annie Mae Hengst; children, Gary Hengst of Rowlett; Rhonda Mahan and husband Larry of Mt. Vernon; Sandra Dunn and husband Harvey of Loveland, Colo., Duane Hengst and wife Stacey of Fort Worth, Karla Petty and husband Gary of Fort Worth, Timothy Hengst and wife Beth of Boone, N.C.; siblings, Bernice Kelm and husband Harvey of Thorndale, Gladys Moerbe of Lubbock, and Eldee Hengst and wife Delores of Thorndale; 25 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Lawrence Vrazel Jr.

Lawrence Vrazel Jr., 87, of Yarrellton, died Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017, in a Temple hospital. 

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, at Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Marak with Rev. George Thirumangalam officiating. Burial will be in the Sts. Cyril & Methodius Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 13, with a rosary being recited at 7 p.m.

Mr. Vrazel, a farmer and rancher, was born Nov. 21, 1929, in Milam County to Lawrence and Albina (Sustek) Vrazel. He married Margaret Pospisil on May 21, 1960. He served in the Texas National Guard in 1955. He played in the early years of the Vrazels’ Polka Band for 12 years. He was a member of the Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Marak, a member of SPJST Lodge 15 in Buckholts and a member of KJT in Marak.

Marjie Gerick

Marjie Gerick, 75, of Cameron, died Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017, in a Temple nursing facility. 

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron with Rev. Alan Wood officiating. Burial will follow in the Sharp Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 1-2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Gerick was born Feb. 10, 1942, in Taylor to Jimmie and Norene (Harrison) Brandstetter. She grew up in Channelview and graduated as salutatorian of Channelview High School. She was also a graduate of Durham’s Business College in Pasadena. She married Albert Gerick and he preceded her in death in 2007. She was a member of Abiding Savior Lutheran Church.

She is survived by two special cousins.

Debra Jaramillo

Debra Jaramillo, 61, of Cameron, died Sunday, Nov. 5, 2017, in a Cameron nursing facility.  

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 7, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Cheatham officiating. Interment will be at a later date. Visitation was at the funeral home before the service.

Debra, a podiatry technician, was born March 29, 1956, to Billy Joe and Nancy Green. She married Raymond Jaramillo on May 22, 1982, and was a member of San Gabriel Baptist Church.

Lois Orsag

Lois Orsag, 82, of Buckholts, died Saturday, Oct. 28, in a Cameron nursing and rehab center.  

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron with Rev. Johnny Kueker officiating. Burial followed in the Corinth Cemetery. Visitation was held Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Orsag was born Dec. 13, 1934, in Bell County to Charlie and Ida Edna (Hagemeister) Gommert.  She married Ernest Ray Orsag on June 24, 1951, and he preceded her in death in 2008. She had worked at Temple Products for over 20 years and was a member of the Buckholts Brethren Church.  

She is survived by: sons, Larry Orsag of Cameron and Randy Orsag of Buckholts; daughters, Gail Hollas of Cameron and Vickie Plachy of Cameron; brother, Wilbert Gommert of Buckholts; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home of Cameron was in charge of arrangements.

Jared Matthew Lynch

Jared Matthew Lynch, 40, died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2017, in McKinney, Texas, after a two-year battle with cancer.  

Jared was born March 3, 1977, in Port Arthur and grew up in Port Neches. He attended Port Neches Groves High School and graduated from Trinity Christian School in Port Arthur. Jared earned a bachelor degree in Russian from The University of Texas at Arlington. He worked many years in pharmacy and was employed with Investors Business Daily when he became ill. Jared was a member of the Eastern Orthodox Church.  

Funeral service and burial will be at Holy Archangels Greek Orthodox Monastery in Kendalia, Texas.

Marianne Balch

Marianne Balch, 79, of McGregor, and formerly of Cameron, died Monday, Oct. 23, 2017, in McGregor. 

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral in Cameron. Burial will follow in the Rice Cemetery near Cameron.

Mrs. Balch was born March 19, 1938, in Milam County to John S. Wilson Jr. and Anna Mae (Pepple) Wilson. She married Wendle Balch and he preceded her in death.  She had worked for Inland Container for many years and was a member of the Davilla Assembly of God Church. 

She is survived by: sons, Alan Balch and Danny Sullivan; daughters, Denise Stanton and Jimmie Hutson; brothers, Steve Wilson and Jim Wilson; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Pearl James

Pearl James, 87, of Cameron, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Oct. 20, 2017, in San Antonio.

Funeral services will be on Saturday, Oct. 28, at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Marek, Burns, Laywell Funeral Home of Cameron with the Rev. Gary Maroney officiating. Visitation will be on Friday, Oct. 27, from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Corinth cemetery near Buckholts.

Pearl is survived by four children, Bobby James of Pearland, Claudia Goode of Benton, Ark., Kenneth James of San Antonio, and Karen McCluskey of Bulverde; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandsons.

Pearl married Joe C. James on Feb. 1, 1947. They were married for 61 years before his death in 2008.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, W. H. & Mollie Gilbert; two sisters, Mary Persky and Dorothy Mitcham; and two brothers, I.T. Gilbert and William E. Gilbert.

Vicki Annette Miller

Mrs. Vicki Annette Miller, 61, of Cameron, died Saturday, Oct. 21, in a Temple hospital after a long illness.

Funeral services for Mrs. Miller will be held Tuesday, Oct. 24, at 10 a.m. at the Grace Church in Cameron with Rev. Glynn Cummings officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Miller was born June 15, 1956, in Waco, to Harold and Leona (Vaughn) Jones. She graduated from Waco University High School in 1974. She married Randy Miller on September 15, 1988. Mrs. Miller co-owned two businesses in Cameron over the years, Petticoats and Overalls and Forever Friends.  She also was a former employee of Main Printing in Cameron. She was a member of the Grace Church.

Ynell Spells

Ynell Spells, 77, of Cameron, died Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017, in a Temple hospital.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, 2017, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Chapel. Burial followed in the Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation was held at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home.

Ms. Spells was born May 4, 1940, in Lee County to Leonard David and Winnie Mae (Mack) Marion. She graduated from Aycock High School. She had worked in food service for many years. She was a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church.
