David R. Mitchell

David R. Mitchell, 70, of Clarkson, died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2019, at his home.  Funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 22, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron. Burial will follow in the Clarkson Cemetery. Visitation was held Thursday, Feb. 21, at the funeral home.

Mr. Mitchell, a farmer and rancher, was born Jan. 28, 1949, in Rosebud to Marion Reginald and Margaret (Robbins) Mitchell. He married Mary Ann Thrasher on Dec. 11, 1970. He had served as a past director of BF&M Co-op and was a Baptist. 

He is survived by: wife, Mary Ann Mitchell of Clarkson; son, Keith Mitchell and wife Kristin of Durango; and three granddaughters, Kinsley, Kennedy and Kyla of Durango.

Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home of Cameron is in charge of arrangements.

Mary Ann Keele

Mary Ann Keele, 83, of Cameron died Thursday, Feb. 21, 2019, in a Cameron nursing and rehab facility. 

Graveside funeral services were held on Monday, Feb. 25, at 11 a.m. at Salem Cemetery near Cameron. Visitation was held on Sunday from 1-3 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Keele, a homemaker, was born Oct. 20, 1935, in Graham to Dan and Mary E. (Willingham) Keel. She married Raymond Theodore Keele on June 7, 1958, and he preceded her in death in 2008. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Danny Ray Keel. 

She is survived by: sons, James Robert Keele of Round Rock, Michael Wayne Keele of Cameron, Albert Eugene Keele of Grape Creek, and Raymond Theodor Keele of Cameron; daughters, Mary Lillian Marcum of San Angelo and Betty Ann Pina of San Angelo; sisters, Wanda Sue McGuire of Collinsville, Okla., and Betty Jean Roe of Tyler; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home of Cameron is in charge of arrangements.

Faye Earline Williams

Faye Earline Williams passed away on Feb. 23, 2019. Earline was born to Thomas Earl and Laura Faye Angell in Cameron on Nov. 25, 1924.

She grew up in Cameron and graduated the top of her class at Yoe High in Cameron. After graduation, Earline traveled from Central Texas to the Texas Gulf Coast to work for Dow Chemical Company in Freeport.

In 1948, Earline married the love of her life, Billie Williams who had also migrated to the Gulf Coast from Caldwell. Earline and Billie Mack were married for 63 years. In 1951, the newly-married couple transferred with Marathon Oil Company to the Markham Gas Plant in Markham.

Anita Louise (Trdy) Beach

Anita Louise (Trdy) Beach, 79, of Brenham, peacefully joined the Lord on Feb. 18, 2019. Anita will be best remembered for her spunky wit, dedication to family and friends, her vibrant smile and her love of God and family.

Anita was born Aug. 22, 1939, to Louis and Maybelle (Hosch) Trdy in Cameron. She was baptized, confirmed and married in St. Monica’s Catholic Church in Cameron. She attended St. Anthony’s Elementary School, C.H. Yoe High School and Durham Business College.

On April 18, 1959, she married Leon R. Beach. They were blessed with four children, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren during their 55 years of marriage.

Harold Glenn Fogle

Harold Glenn Fogle, 69, of Pflugerville and formerly of Cameron, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 21, 2019, at his home. 

Glenn was born in Lockhart, the only child of Wesley G. and Ruby Fogle. He was a 1968 graduate of Yoe High School in Cameron. Glenn worked for AT&T and was a faithful employee for 43 years. Growing up Glenn enjoyed playing football and through the years he remained a loyal Yoemen. He also enjoyed bowling and of course the Thursday night poker game after bowling. From the time he was quite young he enjoyed riding motorcycles; especially riding in the rain. 

He will be remembered by those who knew him well for his very unique sense of humor. He was preceded in death by his father, Wesley G. Fogle.

He is survived by his mother, Ruby; spouse, Charlotte of 37 years; children, Wesley and Katherine; his daughter-in-law, Tabitha; and his grandson, Gray.

Edmund August Michalka

Edmund August Michalka, 74, of Cameron, died Monday, Feb. 11, 2019, in a Cameron nursing and rehab facility. 

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, 2019, at St. Monica’s Catholic Cemetery.

Mr. Michalka was born Nov. 21, 1944, in Cameron to Leo Frank and Hattie (Strutz) Michalka. He worked at Ideal Poultry for many years.

He is survived by: daughter, Valerie Kelarek of Rogers; brothers, Eugene Michalka of Pasadena, James Michalka of Pettibone, Leo Edward Michalka of Belton, and Carroll W. Michalka of Rogers; sister, Brenda J. Williams of Little River Academy; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild.

Memorials may be made to the Cameron Yoe Booster Club.

Daniel Joe Hromcik

Daniel Joe Hromcik, age 83, of Rockdale, passed away Monday, Feb. 11, 2019, in the Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Taylor.

Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 15, 2019, in Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Marak, with Father Darrell Kostiha of the church officiating. Burial will be in Sts. Cyril & Methodius Cemetery in Marak.  Visitation is scheduled for 6-8 p.m. with Rosary at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.

Mr. Hromcik was born Oct. 2, 1935, in Cameron to Joe and Christine (Vaculin) Hromcik.  He graduated from Cameron Yoe High School in 1955. He served in the National Guard from 1955 to 1962. On June 18, 1960, he and Imelda Teltow were married in the Corn Hill Community near Jarrell. He worked 33 years as a mechanic with TXU Power Plant, retiring in October 1992 as a supervisor. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Rockdale.

Wilma Motl

Wilma Motl, age 98, of Seaton, died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2019. Wilma was born on Nov. 14, 1920, to William and Christine (Svoboda) Marek in Bell County.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Feb. 14, 2019, at 10 a.m. at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home Chapel in Temple.  Burial will follow at Seaton Cemetery.  A visitation will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2019, from 6-8 p.m. at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple.

Jerry Wayne McDaniel

Funeral services for Jerry Wayne McDaniel, 78, of Thorndale, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, 2019, at the Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale. Burial will follow at the St. John Lutheran Cemetery in the Detmold community near Thorndale.

Mr. McDaniel died Friday evening, Feb. 8, 2019, at a Temple Hospital.

The Rev. Larry E. Caldwell Sr. of Mount Zion Baptist Church in Thorndale, and the Rev. James D. Brymer of Conoley Community Church will officiate the service. The family is especially grateful to both officiating ministers, along with the Rev. Mel Swoyer and wife Gaile, retired former pastor of St. John Lutheran Church in Thorndale, for their outstanding spiritual care.

Public visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale. Casket will be permanently closed at the beginning of the service.

Evelyn Ruth Vansuch

Evelyn Ruth Vansuch, of Temple, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2019, at Scott & White Hospital in Temple, at the age of 64.

Ruth was born on Sept. 3, 1954, in Houston, to Rev. Leonard Muston and Doris Hitchcock Muston. She was employed as a night manager of Super 8 Motel in Temple for a number of years before retiring in 2013.

She is survived by her husband of 14 years, Douglas A. Vansuch of Temple; daughter, Serina Cole and husband Matthew of Cameron; sons, William Thompson of Killeen, and James Littleton Jr.  and wife Christy of Texas City; step-son, Dillon Vansuch of Dallas; and five grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 16 at 1 p.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church located at 3739 FM 1712 in Rockdale, TX 76567.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to support the Wounded Warrior Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
