Funeral service for John Douglas “Doug” Lewis, Jr., 89, of Houston, formerly of Buckholts, will be held at 9 a,.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, at the Kathryn W. Green Chapel of Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Cameron, with Rev. Billy Crow officiating.
Interment will follow at the Corinth Cemetery near Buckholts with full military honors.
Mr. Lewis died Sept. 1, at his home following an illness. He was a retired machinist in the oil field industry.
Mr. Lewis was born Aug. 22, 1926 to J. D. Sr. and Ida Belle Peters Lewis in Buckholts. 
He graduated  from C. H. Yoe High School in 1943. He proudly served in WWII in the United States Marine Corps.
He is survived by his wife, Ida Benge Lewis,  one son, Paul Lewis of Houston and one daughter, Lori Pettett  and husband, Robert, of Freeport; one sister, Dorothy Gause of  Gause. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Pamela, Derek and Lisa Lewis and Chase, Aubrey and Sydney (Peanut) Pettett.

Louis Edward Rozner, 70, of Cameron, died Monday, Aug. 31, at his home.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Ss. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church with Rev. Walter Dhanwar officiating.
Burial will follow in the Ss. Cyril & Methodius Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday 6-8 p.m. at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home.
Mr. Rozner was born June 6, 1945 in Cameron to Joe and Matilda (Zavrel) Rozner.
He worked for Cameron Iron Works for over 20 years and then he worked and retired from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. He served in the Army National Guard.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services for Donald Ray Elkins, 52, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, at the Cameron Church of Christ with Minister Gene VanNord officiating.
Mr. Elkins died Aug. 15 at his home.
Mr. Elkins was born July 4, 1963 to Arnold Ray and Virginia Williams Elkins in Houston. He was an apartment manager.
Mr. Elkins is survived by one son, Bobby Ray Elkins of Michigan, one daughter, Brittney Elkins of Porter, his mother, Virginia Elkins of Cameron, and two sisters, Alene Fay Bennett of Cameron and Kathy Ann Miller of Ledbetter. Also surviving are nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins that he was very close to.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Cameron.

Funeral services for Mrs. Carole Sue Walker Reed, age 72, of the Friendship Community, near Buckholts, were held Saturday, Aug. 8, at the Friendship United Methodist Church with Reverend Tim Titsworth officiating.
Burial followed in the Friendship Cemetery.
Mrs. Reed died Wednesday Aug. 5, 2015, at her residence, following an extended illness.
Mrs. Reed was born in Houston on Jan. 9, 1943, to James Delbert and Ruby Kelley Walker, and was retired as an administrative assistant with Exxon. She was a longtime resident of Channelview where she worked for the Channelview ISD. She was a member of the New Beginnings church in Cameron.
 Survivors her husband Bill E. Reed of Buckholts, sons Bobby Mathews of Spring, Scott Mathews of Atascocita, Jeff Mathews of Dayton, Billy Joe Reed of Olympia, Washington, Richard Reed of Joshua and Edward Reed of Griffith, Indiana; 11 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Robert Lee “Bob” Matyastik died peacefully in his sleep on Aug. 8, 2015, just 20 days before reaching his 80th birthday.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 13, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday from 9 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Bob, a retired cotton ginner and bail bondsman, was born Aug. 28, 1935, in Cameron to William Paul and Rose Antonia (Svetlik) Matyastik.
He graduated from C. H. Yoe High School. He married Frances Elizabeth “Frankie” (Middleton) Morris on March 21, 1973 and she preceded him in death in 2011.
He was also preceded in death by daughters, Regina Ann Matyastik in 2013 and Wanda Fierce in 1998 and brother Milton James “Jim” Matyastik in 2009.
Bob was one of a kind and had a free spirit. He had strong religious convictions and a keen sense of humor. He will be deeply missed.

Funeral services for Mrs. Nan Reno Mills-Powell, age 71, of Montgomery, and formerly of Cameron, were held July 18, at the Pavilion in Oak Hill Cemetery in Cameron, with Reverend Drew Weber officiating. Mrs. Mills-Powell died Wednesday, July 15, at her residence following an illness. Mrs. Mills-Powell was born Nov. 27, 1943, in Cameron, to Fred and Billye Willingham Reno, and was a retired executive assistant in the property management field. Survivors include her husband, Deryl Powell, of Montgomery, and two sons Roy Howard of Humble and John Howard of Spring. A visitation was held at the Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Montgomery on July 17. Arrangements are under the direction of Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Cameron. 254-697-6611. Alma Cora Miller, 98, of Burlington, died July 21, 2015 in a Cameron nursing facility. Services were held July 25 at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Clarkson Cemetery. Mrs. Miller, a homemaker and farmer, was born June 15, 1917 at Clarkson to Adolph and Frieda (Schuetze) Schulz. She married Louis Miller on July 9, 1937 and he preceded her in death in 1989. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Dora Chollett and a baby sister Nora Schuetze. She is survived by daughters Geraldine Lindeman and husband Raymond and Roberta Wilkerson and husband Richard; four grandchildren, four great grandchildren and three greatgreat grandchildren Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home of Cameron was in charge of arrangements.

John Edwin Dusek, Jr. of Katy was born on Feb. 23, 1929 in Caldwell, Burleson County. He was the son of the deceased J Edwin and Bertha Autrey Dusek of Cameron. He died on July 26, 2015 of congestive heart failure in Houston Methodist St. Catherine Hospital with his family by his side. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War from 1952 to 1954 serving on the USS Atlas on the West Coast. His father worked for the Santa Fe Railroad and they lived in many small Texas towns, finally settling in Cameron where he was a graduate of Yoe High School and then the University of Houston. He worked for 11 years for CB Southern and retired from Waukesha Pearce Industries in 2009 after 20 years. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ruby Vigneaux Dusek; his two children, Elizabeth Keng (Dudley) of Houston, and John E. Dusek III (Tammy) of McKinney, TX; and by five grandchildren, Nicholas Keng of Orange, Megan and Maggie Keng of Houston, Brittany and Ryan Dusek of McKinney.

On Saturday, July 11, Michael Adams, local Milam County land owner and owner of Battleroad USA Gun Range just out of Buckholts, was killed in a one-vehicle accident just outside of Rogers. The accident is still under investigation. Mr. Adams was born and raised in Houston. He served in the United States Army as a LRRP Scout. Mr. Adams was a Master Instructor in the nationwide Appleseed Project and was instrumental in assistingthose who serve our country overseas, returning with physical limitations in learning and continuing their goals of marksmanship and competitive shooting. His range hosted many events including the twice-yearly Zombie Run shooting classic which brought in people from all over the country to compete. He taught marksmanship skills, survival skills, and Texas history. He also trained law enforcement officers from all over the state at Battleroad USA. He was a regular host of the Rifleman Radio show in the Appleseed Radio Network for the past nine years.

Willie Ray Hoff, 80, of Burlington, died Wednesday, July 8, 2015, in a Temple Hospital. Services were held July 12 in Salem Lutheran Church near Barclay with Rev. Terry Atkins officiating. Burial followed in Salem Lutheran Cemetery. Mr. Hoff was born June 9, 1935 in Rosebud to Edwin and Ida Fabianke Hoff. He lived all of his life in the Burlington area. He married Joyce Glaser on June 9, 1956. He worked for Alcoa in Rockdale for 30 years and farmed from the time he was a small child until his death. He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Otto Lee Hoff and Eugene Hoff and by one grandson, Brian Reinders. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Hoff; two sons, Johnny Ray Hoff and Ricky Dale Hoff; daughter, Janice Reinders and husband Donnie; two sisters-in-law, Glenna Hoff and Nancy Hoff; and four grandchildren, Randy Reinders, Rhett Hoff, Savannah Hoff, and Jacob Hoff. He is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
