J.T. Fischer

J.T. Fischer, 102, of Rogers, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Nov. 12, at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Bill Moeller in Waco. 
Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 16, at Hope Lutheran Church in Buckholts. Burial followed in the Hope Lutheran Memorial Park in Buckholts. 
Mr. Fischer, a retired farmer and rancher, was born Aug. 1, 1913 in Buckholts to George and Malita (Rachui) Fischer. He married Edna Agnes Laffere and she preceded him in death in 1993.
He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Doris Marie Pinard.
He is survived by his daughter Jean Moeller and husband Bill of Waco; two grandchildren and two great grandsons.
Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home of Cameron was in charge of arrangements.

Maria Elena Contreras de Muniz, 74, of Cameron died Friday, Oct. 30, 2015 in a Temple hospital.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Monica’s Catholic Church with Rev. Dimitrij Colankin officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be 6 until 8 p.m. Monday at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron.
Mrs. Muniz, a homemaker, was born April 10, 1941 in Mexico to Gregorio and Maria Petra (Gamez) Contreras. She married Isabel Castillo Muniz in 1974.
She is survived by her husband Isabel Muniz of Cameron; sons Facundo Muniz of Cameron and Eduardo Muniz of Rockdale; daughters Maria Petra Muniz and Laura Lewis, both of Cameron; brothers Fermin Contreras of Cameron and Eusebio Contreras of Gonzalez; sisters Marina Gonzalez and Anastacia Escalante, both of Mexico, and Antonia Vasquez of Houston; 17 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Gloria Raymond Armstrong

Gloria Raymond Armstrong, 79, of Temple, formerly of Cameron, passed away Thursday, Oct. 29, 2015, in a Temple hospital after an illness.
Funeral Services will be held Sunday, Nov. 1, at 2 p.m. in the Kathryn W. Green Chapel of Green- Patterson Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Crow officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Cameron.
Mrs. Armstrong was born Dec. 12, 1935 in Cameron to Thomas G. and Willie Mai Raymond. She married Olan J. Armstrong in 1957. She was a member of the Cameron First Baptist Church. Mrs. Armstrong was the bookkeeper for the family business, Armstrong Plumbing, for many years.
Survivors include one son, Daniel Armstrong of Temple; two grandchildren, Lindsey Ingram and Nash Jackson Ingram of Austin; one sister, Patricia Sims and husband, Ed of Temple and one brother, Thomas “Sonny” Raymond and wife, Kay, of Cameron.

Eddie Lucille Pope

Funeral services for Mrs. Eddie Lucille Pope will be held Saturday, Oct. 31, 2015, at 10 a.m. in the Kathryn W. Green Chapel of Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Cameron with the Rev. Billy Crow officiating. 
Mrs. Pope passed away Tuesday, Oct. 27, at her residence in Centerville.
She was formerly of the Friendship community near Buckholts. Mrs. Pope celebrated her 100th birthday this year, being born March 9, 1915 to Sam L. and Gwyneth Ross Graham, in Cameron. A lifelong member of the Friendship United Methodist Church, she dedicated her life to her church and her family. Mrs. Pope graduated high school in 1933 from Boling High School, also attending school in Cameron as a young girl. 
She married H. C. “Bill” Pope on September 14, 1935. He preceded her in death in 1999. Also preceding her in death was one son, William Cullen Pope, in 1939.

Frances Clara Melde, age 91, was born April 14, 1924 and passed away peacefully Oct.18, 2015 at SPJST Nursing Facility in Taylor.
Frances was born to William and Clara Hoes.
She married Gilbert Melde on Jan. 15, 1945. She is preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers.

Anton Ben Michalka, Jr., 86, of Buckholts, died Monday, Oct. 19, 2015 in a Temple hospital.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Monica’s Catholic Church in Cameron with Rev. Dimitrij Colankin officiating.
Burial will follow in the St. Monica’s Cemetery.
Rosary/vigil will be recited at 6 p.m. Thursday at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home.
Mr. Michalka, a retired rural postal carrier and farmer, was born July 9, 1929 in Ballinger to Anton Ben and Alma (Klaus) Michalka.
He served in the U. S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict.
He was a lifelong member of St. Monica’s Catholic Church and a member of the Sons of Hermann.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Walter A. Michalka and a sister, Bernardine Lehnert. 
He is survived by a brother Ralph L. Michalka of Portage, Michigan; sister Lucille Jekell and husband Dwayne of Cameron; and several Nieces and Nephews

Mike Davenport

Mike Davenport

On the morning of Wednesday, Oct. 14, Michael Boyd Davenport, “Mike,” passed away after a two-year battle with mesothelioma, a rare lung cancer. Although his battle was difficult and trying, he was able to pass peacefully in his dream home on the farm with his wife, Connie Sue Davenport (Caffey), by his side.
Mike celebrated his 66th birthday in July.
Mike was born on July 16, 1949 in Milano, first born son to Boyd and Bonnie Davenport. Mike retired from Alcoa after serving 34 years in various positions that led him to his next career with Pyrotek, Inc.
Working on the farm with his best friend, Connie, was his true love and passion once he fully retired.
Mike and Connie were married for 31 years. Mike spent many long but satisfying hours molding the land into a loving place to be used and passed down from generation to generation. He loved all things nature, singing, classic cars and guns, and his family.

Flora Belle Fikes Mitcham

Flora Belle Fikes Mitcham, 93, of Hillsboro, died Friday, Oct. 16, 2015 in a Hillsboro nursing facility. 
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct. 20, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron with burial following in the Rogers City Cemetery. 
Mrs. Mitcham, a retired beauty operator and instructor, was born Dec. 7, 1921 in Athens, Texas to Ulrick and Ethel Fikes. 
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Narae. 
She is survived by her husband Jesse William Mitcham of Hillsboro; sons Jerry Wayne Mitcham of Hailey, Idaho, Roy Louis Mitcham of Hillsboro and Jesse William Mitcham, Jr. of Hubbard; daughter Reba Ann Mitcham of Hubbard; eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren

Ernest Ray Carter

On Oct. 6, Ernest Ray Carter (“T-Bone”) left us to join his wife in Heaven. 
He spent the majority of his career as a teacher for Taylor I.S.D. During that time he pursued his dream of becoming a Peace Officer. He then worked for the Thrall Police Department and finished his law enforcement career with the Williamson County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office.
His retired years were enjoyed in Rockport with his wife Becky and fishing with friends. 
T-Bone is preceded in death by his loving wife Becky, his parents Woodie and Alene Carter, brothers Sonny Rodgers and Granvel Carter.
He is survived by his children Patrick Carter and wife Cheryl of Taylor, Frances Carter of Cameron, Stacey and Jake Tomek of Cameron, his sister Billie Parker of Rockdale and his grandchildren Ashley, Chelsie, Kayla, Shane, Catherine, Chase and Jason Jr. along with numerous nieces and nephews.
