Blasa Martinez Sanchez

It is with great sadness that the family of Blasa Martinez Sanchez announces her passing on Aug. 20, 2018, at the age of 93 years.

Mrs. Sanchez was born in Chriesman, and was a Member of St. Monica’s Catholic Church. She was also involved in different organizations in church including: Breakfast Mexicano, Ladies Society, and Guadalupanas.  She was a homemaker and once worked at Hensley Russell Dress Factory in the early 70’s. Mrs. Sanchez loved to sew, bake and cook for her family. She welcomed all her visitors with coffee and cookies. She will be greatly missed.

Edith Ethel Faseler Hensley

Edith Ethel Faseler Hensley, age 96, was surrounded by her loved ones when she went to be with her Heavenly Father on Aug. 9, 2018. 

Ethel was born in Yancey, Texas, on Sept. 28, 1921, to Louis Faseler and Bertha Spellman Faseler.  She graduated as valedictorian from Yancey High School in 1939. She went on to attend Texas State University, where she was a member of Alpha Xi Delta Sorority, the College Glee Club, YWCA, and the Little Symphony Orchestra.  In her sophomore year, she was voted Gaillardian, an award for outstanding and accomplished students. She met and married Debs Benson Hensley of Cameron on Dec. 7, 1940, while they were still students.

William Lane Caldwell

William Lane Caldwell, of Cameron, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 4, 2018.

He was born on Oct. 1, 1937, in Cameron, to the late Barry Cass and Lois (Watterson) Caldwell, Sr.

Mr. Caldwell proudly served in the United States Navy. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife, Lahoma Caldwell; daughter, Cheryl Caldwell; and brother, Kenneth W. Caldwell.

Mr. Caldwell is survived by his cherished children, Kevin Lynn of Oklahoma, Bonnie Lynn of Ohio, Lonnie Lynn Yates of Cameron, James Lynn of Cameron, Jeannie Rosemond of Cameron, Ladonna Monds of Georgia and Warren Caldwell of California; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brothers, Barry C. Caldwell Jr. of Houston, and Harold D. Caldwell of California; and numerous other family and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at Temple Garden of Memories, 8101 Old Hwy 81, Temple, Texas on Monday, Aug. 27, at 10 a.m. Officiating will be Bud Barnes.

Gerald Edward Sowders

Gerald Edward Sowders, 85, of Milano, died Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2018, in a Caldwell nursing facility. 

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 10, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron with Bro. Wayne Kirk officiating. Burial will follow in the Milano City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Mr. Sowders was born April 1, 1933, to Edward and Frances (Taylor) Sowders in San Saba, Texas. He served in the Army and then became a lineman for Dallas Power.

Gerald was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley (Thornton) Sowders; his son, Ricky; and grandson, Edward. 

He was a member of Marlow Baptist Church.

Alton James Moraw

Mass of Christian Burial for Alton James Moraw, 77, of Temple, were held Friday, Aug. 3, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Darrell Kostiha officiating.  Burial was in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Mr. Moraw died Monday, July 30, at his residence.

Mr. Moraw was born July 2, 1941, in Cameron to Anton Moraw and Laura Wilde Moraw. He graduated from Cameron High School in 1959 and attended Temple College. He enlisted in the Army in 1959 and served for three years. He married Deanna Bruggman of Cyclone May 8, 1965. He worked in Banking at First National Bank, at Duplex Products and in Accounting.  He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Lodge in Temple.

Richard Paul Lesikar

Richard Paul Lesikar, 63, of Buckholts, died Tuesday, July 31, 2018, at his home.  Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, at Oak Hill Pavilion with Rev. Rudie Diaz officiating.

Mr. Lesikar was born Feb. 15, 1955, in Cameron to Frank Emil and Angellee (Posival) Lesikar. 

He had worked in factory, manufacturing, and farming. 

He is survived by: brothers, Jerry Joe Lesikar of Cameron, Albert Lesikar of Rogers, and Raymond Lesikar of Lott; sisters, Annie Welborn of Hinesville, Ga., and Doris Rodriguez of Temple.

Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home of Cameron is in charge of arrangements.

Todd Franklin Hatcher

Todd Franklin Hatcher, age 42, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 31, 2018.

He was born Dec. 3, 1975, in Austin. He attended both Thorndale and Thrall High School, graduating from Thrall in 1995. He worked for Securtas/Tokyo Electronics for over 20 years.

Todd was one of the kindest souls you would ever meet. He truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures like spending time with friends and family, playing the many sports he enjoyed such as tennis, baseball, volleyball, darts, table tennis, and basketball; as well as caring for the many animals that he loved.

Todd is preceded in death by his father, Wallace R. Hatcher (Rusty) and his grandmother Dora Johnson Vajdos. Those left to cherish his memory include his mother, Doris Hatcher; sister, Tina (Allen) Murray; brother, Alden (Alexa) Elliott; nieces, Jessica and Kay and nephew Trey; and his grandfather, James (Joanne) Cutshall.

Guadalupe “Lupe” Trevino

Mrs. Guadalupe “Lupe” Trevino, 83, of Cameron, passed away Monday, July 23, 2018, in a Cameron nursing facility. 

Graveside services for Mrs. Trevino were held Friday, July 27, at 9 a.m. in Hernandez Cemetery in Cameron, with Frank Borgas officiating.

Mrs. Trevino was born Dec. 12, 1934, in Rockdale to Matildo and Juanita Herrera Borgas. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Monica’s Catholic Church.

Survivors include her sons, Castulo Trevino III of Cameron, and Guadalupe Trevino and Theodore Trevino, both of Houston. Also surviving are grandchildren Joel Noyola III, Steven Noyola and Stefanie Noyola, all of Houston.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Castulo Trevino Jr., in May of this year; and a daughter, Mary Helen Trevino in 2010.

David Greene

David Greene, 65, of Cameron, died July 20, 2018, after a short illness in Portland, Ore. 

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, July 30, at the Assembly Hall of the Bell County Exposition Center in Belton. Visitation will be Sunday from 4-6 p.m. at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron. Private family burial will be at Walkers Creek Cemetery near Cameron.

Sheriff Greene was born Oct. 31, 1952, in Sherman, Texas, to Oscar Earl and Marguerite Rebecca (Hughes) Greene. Sheriff Greene served as a Game Warden for close to 30 years.  He then became a Milam County Constable for two years before running for Milam County Sheriff.  He was in his third term as Milam County Sheriff at the time of his death. He married Janell Rene Morin on Oct. 12, 1996, and was a member of the Texas Sheriff’s Association. Sheriff Greene was instrumental in starting the Milam County Sheriff’s office “Brown Santa” program. 

His son, David Greene Jr., preceded him in death.

Jacob Darren Biar

Jacob Darren Biar was born on July 22, 1997, and went to his Heavenly Home on July 21, 2018. 

Jacob was preceded in death by his grandfather, John Zieschang. 

He is survived by his parents, Darren and Shannon Biar; his triplet siblings, Ethan and Michaela; sister, McKenna; grandparents, Evelyn Zieschang and Billy and Lou Biar; loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Jacob was a multi-talented, incredible individual who loved music and working with his hands.  He was wise beyond his years, strong, but loving, and always helped anyone who needed it.  He had a strong sense of family, knew who he was and what he liked.  If someone asked him to do something, he not only did it with a smile on his face, he exceeded their expectations when the project was complete.
