Carol Schneider

Carol Schneider, 67, of Rosebud, died Wednesday, July 4, 2018, in a Temple Hospital.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 7, at Salem Lutheran Church. Rev. Terry Atkins officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery in Rosebud.

Mrs. Schneider was born Dec. 2, 1950, in Cameron to John and Mabellene Denker Tomascik. She grew up in Buckholts and graduated from Buckholts High School. She married Darrell Schneider on May 16, 1981, and worked at Citizens National Bank in Cameron for 38 years. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, The Ruth Circle and the Altar Guild.

She is survived by her husband, Darrell Schneider of Rosebud; one son, Jason Schneider and wife Audra of Meeks; one daughter, Ashley Beran and husband Blake of San Antonio; two brothers, Dennis Tomascik of Rogers and John Tomascik of Buckholts; one sister, Lori Broughton of  Temple; and a granddaughter, Lynlee Grace Schneider.

Dreau Marie Jarma

Mass of Christian Burial for Dreau Marie Jarma, 87, of Temple, will be held 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 3, 2018, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Temple. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held 6:30 p.m. on Monday, July 2, 2018, at the church.

Mrs. Jarma passed from this life peacefully on Friday, June 29, 2018, while surrounded by her beloved family. She was born to Harry and Marilyn Schaedel in East Orange, N.J., on July 19, 1930.

Larry Alfred Green

Larry Alfred Green, 54, of Cameron died Tuesday, June 26, at his home. 

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 2, 2018, at Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Marak with Rev. Dimitrij Colankin officiating.  Burial will be at a later date. Rosary will be Sunday at 6 p.m. with visitation to follow at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Chapel.

Larry, a self-employed mechanic, was born Jan. 26, 1964, in Temple to Virgil and Joyce (Ruzicka) Green. He graduated from Rogers High School and he married Pamela Lewin on Feb. 13, 1988. He was a member of Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church where he had served on the parish council, a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 10186 and he had served on the Cameron ISD School Board.

L.V. Miller Jr.

L.V. Miller Jr. was born on Oct. 20, 1959, to the late L.V. Miller Sr. and Dora Miller. He attended C.H. Yoe High School in Cameron. After graduation he served in the National Guard.

He accepted Christ later in life, becoming a member of Mission for Souls Church in Cameron.

Jr. leaves to cherish his memory one son, Larry Blaylock (Aja); one grandson, Dontrell Blaylock; one granddaughter, Misshlay Blaylock; and a very special friend, Debra Blaylock; five brothers, John L. Melton Sr. (Beverly), James E. Melton Sr., Quiency Miller, Marvin Miller, and Clarence L. Miller; four sisters, Christine Howard (John), Deloris Melton, Marilyn Tidwell, and Sandra Haynes; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home of Cameron is in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy Turpen

Dorothy Marie Turpen born Dorothy Marie Wagner on Jan. 22, 1945, in Austin, to Dorothy Evelyn Wagner (Simmank) and Walter A. Wagner. She married Richard Turpen in 1962 and has three children.  Dorothy passed peacefully to heaven to be with Richard on June 16.

She is survived by two daughters and one son, Sheila Lopez of Rockdale, Venita Smith and husband Dennis of Briarcliff and Ricky Turpen of Rockdale; one brother, Lonnie A. Wagner and wife Diane of Burnet County.

She is also survived by seven grandchildren and their spouses: Tony Lopez and wife Amanda, Joey Lopez and wife Stephanie, Daniel Lopez and wife Heather, Billy Phillips and wife Chenell, Cody Phillips and wife Melissa, and Tiffany Turpen; and 12 great-grandchildren, Mckena, Steven, Mason, Nicholas, Zachary, Jaycee, Ashtyn, Austin, William, Olivia, Landon, and Addison.

She was proceeded in death by her parents; husband, Richard Turpen; brother, Larry A. Wagner; and grandson, Michael J Phillips.

Donald Blake Harless

Donald Blake Harless, 21, of Cameron, passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2018. 

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 23, 2018, at the Milano High School Gymnasium in Milano, with burial following at Burns Cemetery in the community of Blue near Lexington. Visitation was from 6-8 p.m., Friday, June 22, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.

Blake was born April 18, 1997, in Houston, to Ty Harless and Jennifer (Barfield) Mueck. He graduated from Milano High School where he played on the Milano Eagles football team.  Following high school, he attended Texas State Technical College in Waco. Blake worked for Dudley Construction out of College Station as a construction worker for the past five months and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Milano.

Floyd Steele Cooley

Floyd Steele Cooley, age 66, died peacefully in his sleep on June 23, 2018, at his vacation home in Jasper, Ark.

Steele was born on the Feb. 28, 1952, to parents Bennie and Floyd Cooley of Maud, Texas. He married his wife, Marion Cooley, on the July 16, 1977. He was a charter member of the Kappa Sigma Lambdau Tau Fraternity at Baylor University. He retired from work as the Technology Director at Cameron ISD in 2008, and previously made a living as a high school history teacher, home builder, and cattle rancher.

He very much enjoyed offshore fishing, cars, UFOlogy, tending his apple orchard, and most recently, the company of his granddaughter, Charlotte. He will be remembered for his sharp mind, quick wit, and infectious sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife, Marion Cooley of Cameron; son and daughter-in-law, Colin and Tara Cooley of New Braunfels; granddaughter, Charlotte Cooley of New Braunfels; and brother, Greg Cooley of Fort Worth.

Donna Joyce Eddy

Donna Joyce Eddy passed on May 26, 2018, surrounded by her family.

She was born March 1, 1944, in Niles, Mich., to Oscar and Barbara Dean. She married Kenneth Eddy. 

She is survived by her daughters, Joanne Borton of Rosebud, Kristy Marek of Cameron, and Tracy and husband Donald Webb of Springhill, Mo.; one sister, Phyllis and husband Howard Dean of Novi, Mich.; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two sisters, Judy Harmon and Susan Mason.

Robert Fontaine Jones

Robert Fontaine Jones, 81, of Cameron passed from this life to his Heavenly home on June 11, 2018, in a Temple hospital with family and friends supporting him.

A celebration of his life will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 14, at Marlow Baptist Church with Pastor Wayne Kirk officiating.  Interment will follow in the Marlow Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron.

Robert was born May 6, 1937, in Jones Prairie Texas to George W. and Florence (Parker) Jones. He proudly served in the United States Army in the 1960’s stationed in Germany. He retired from Alcoa after more than 37 years. He married Betty Johnson on March 16, 1992. He was a member of Marlow Baptist Church where he had many friends whom he loved dearly and were a huge part of his life.
