Sally Cervantes

Sally Cervantes, 56, of Cameron, died Thursday, Nov. 3, 2016, in a Temple hospital.  

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Monica’s Catholic Church with Rev. Dimitrij Colankin officiating. 

Burial will follow in the St. Monica’s Cemetery. Rosary was recited at 6 p.m. Sunday at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home.

Mrs. Cervantes, a homemaker, was born Jan. 19, 1960, in Cameron to Juaquin Garcia and Paula Guzman. She married Silvano Cervantes and was a member of St. Monica’s Catholic Church.

Louis Dean Brand

Cameron-Funeral Services for Louis Dean Brand, 96, of Milano, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2016, in the Kathryn W. Green Chapel of Green-Patterson Funeral Home, with Rev. Wade Brand officiating. Mr. Brand passed away Friday, Nov. 4, at his home.

Mr. Brand was born July 27, 1920, to Willie and Roxie Brand in Denton County. He graduated from Floydada High School in 1937. He served in the United States Navy from 1941 until 1945. He retired from the United States Postal Service in 1980. Mr. Brand served as the Chairman of Deacons at the Milano Baptist Church, where he was a member. He loved gardening and sharing his produce with his friends and neighbors.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Billie Jean Macready Brand in May of 1998.

Porter Young Jr.

Porter Young Jr., 84, of Cameron, died Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2016, in a Cameron nursing facility. 

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home with Gene VanNoord and O.E. Davidson officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery. 

Visitation will be held Thursday from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Young was born June 25, 1932, in Gustine, Texas, to Edward Porter and Grace (Pennell) Young. He was a long time member of the Church of Christ and served a number of years as Deacon. He was a U. S. Navy veteran of the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion, V.F.W. and D.A.V.

Lois Wheeless

Lois Wheeless, 84, of Cameron died Thursday, Oct. 27, 2016, in a Cameron hospital. 

Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 20, at Minerva Cemetery Pavilion with the Rev. Betty Wenzel officiating. Burial will follow in the Minerva Cemetery. 

Visitation will be Saturday from 4-6 p.m. at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home.

Mrs. Wheeless was born Oct. 20, 1932, in Freeport, to Edwin B. and Mabel (Huddleston) Ferree. She married James T. Wheeless in 1954. She was a member and associate pastor of the Christian Fellowship Church in Ben Arnold. 

Her son, Jim Wheeless, preceded her in death in 2014. 

She is survived by: her husband, the Rev. James T. Wheeless of Cameron; daughter, Kim Wheeless of Cameron; daughter-in-law, Wrenie Wheeless of Cameron; brother, Edwin Ferree of Fort Worth; sister, Nita Ray of Kenner, La.; sister-in-law, Mildred Calhoun; two grandchildren; three nieces; and numerous cousins.

Mabel Rouse Clarke

Mabel Rouse Clarke departed this life and went to join numerous friends and members of her family in the presence of the Lord on Oct. 25, 2016. Having lived to the age of 101 years, she had enjoyed a full and productive life.

Mabel was born Sept. 7, 1915, in Franklin. After graduation from Hearne High School in 1934 she had a very successful career in banking. During an era when women found it difficult to succeed in the business world, she held positions of responsibility in eight banks in four different states. At the time of her retirement, she was a Vice President of Enterprise Bank in Houston. She was a charter member of the Mu Epsilon chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha, a business and professional women’s sorority.

Edward Wilhelm Patschke

Edward Wilhelm Patschke passed away Oct. 20, 2016, at the age of 91 years. 

Edward was born Jan. 23, 1925, in Thorndale to Paul Wilhelm and Louise (Frosch) Patschke.  He was baptized Feb. 15, 1925, and confirmed April 2, 1939, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Thorndale by Pastor F. H. Stelzer.  He was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Thorndale.

Edward married Eileen Lydia Richter on May 20, 1956, at Zion Lutheran Church in Walburg with Pastor W. F. Bielefeldt officiating.  He was blessed with the gift of two children.  Edward farmed and later worked at American Desk in Taylor until he retired.

Edward was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Wilhelm and Louise Patschke; five brothers, Walter Patschke, Reinhold Patschke, Ewald Patschke, Paul Patschke and Wilbert Patschke; four sisters, Selma Koehler, Minnie Buchhorn, Hulda Leschber and Ella Unnasch; and his son, Glen Ray Patschke.

Frank H. Hromcik

Frank H. Hromcik, 74, of Temple, passed away Oct. 19 at Baylor Scott & White in Temple.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., Friday, Oct. 21, at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan, with a Rosary beginning at 7 with Father Steve Sauser leading. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 22, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Rev. Msgr. John McCaffrey as Celebrant. Interment will follow at Smetana Cemetery.

Howard H. Beale

Howard H. Beale, 85, of Houston and formerly of Milam County, died Monday, Oct. 17, 2016, in a Houston nursing facility. 

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Mr. Beale was born December 23, 1930, in the Maysfield community of Milam County, to John W. and Carrie Lee (Finch) Beale. He was a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He married Erna Marie Senkel and had worked at Cactus Pipe and Supply in the preventative maintenance department. 

He is survived by his wife, Erna Beale of Houston; son, Randy Beale and wife Janice of Spring; brothers, Leon Beale of Killgore and John Beale of Abilene; sisters, Mavis Hairston of Cameron and Annie Junek of Cameron; two granddaughters; and one great-grandchild.

Presilia Granado

Presilia Granado, 90, of Rogers passed away on Sunday, Oct. 16, 2016, at a Temple hospital.  

Presilia was born Jan. 4, 1926, in Edinburg, to Cesaria Torres and Emiliano Montalbo. The youngest of five, Presilia and her brothers Adolfo, Bartolo, Jesus and Manuel Montalbo grew up in Buckholts and were raised on a farm as her family were sharecroppers.  

She married Rosalio Granado in 1945. Shortly after, Rosalio and Presilia planted a church in Rogers. She had three children, John Angel, Maggie and Alberto.  

She is preceded in death by John Angel and her husband Rosalio Granado.  

A hard-working mother of two, she continued to pastor the small church in Rogers for many years. After retiring, she remained active in the church where she loved to sing.  She loved working on her yard, visiting with people, and shopping. Presilia loved spending time with her family and friends. One of her favorite games was playing dominoes as she was very competitive.

Ruby Tiemann Krieg

Ruby Tiemann Krieg, age 97, passed away Friday, Oct. 14, 2016, in Round Rock.

Ruby was born in Thorndale to R. Herman Moerbe and Sophia Melde Moerbe on Christmas

Day, Dec. 25. 1918. Ruby attended St Paul Lutheran Church where she was baptized and confirmed. On May 18, 1938, she married Edmund Tiemann. Together they owned and operated Tiemann Garage where she was the bookkeeper until his passing in 1971. Later she married Will Krieg and made her home in Thrall. She became a member of St. John Lutheran Church. Will Krieg passed way in 1993.

Ruby is preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; her daughter, Carole Heine; her brothers, Robert Moerbe and wife Rubye, Roy Moerbe and wife Ann; her grandson, Jason Tiemann; her son-in-law, Nathan Heine; grandson-in-law, Bill Posey; and stepdaughter, Margie Sager.
